Canada Trip
So N8R is trying to get Matt and I to get our butts up to Canada.
1) Would we be able to meet up with both N8R and sweabs while up there?
2) How expensive is Canada?
3) What is a must see up there?

Re: Canada Trip
1) Yes, that would be easy! You could even stay here - and I live literally minutes away from the Falls (and that would be a must see if you've never seen them before).
2) Not very different than what you're used to. And when our dollar sucks, you guys can usually capitalize. However, I do find a lot of girls like going to the States to do their shopping, just b/c of the wider selection and apparently better prices. I wouldn't know much about that though...
3) The Falls are good, if you've never seen them before (Canada's side is way better than yours). Honestly, depending on how long you guys plan on staying, I'd suggest making your way up to Northern Ontario - Muskoka area is just beautiful. There isn't anything like it. So peaceful...Moreover, if you plan on doing some flying as well, you just need to get to BC at some point. BC is pretty much indescribable.

Re: Canada Trip
yeah really depends on where in Canada you want to go to or can afford to go to.
Must sees: Niagara Falls, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Montreal, Vancouver Island, Whistler.
But if you just want to come to visit and stay in the Ontario region than you have many options as well. Niagara Falls is here, CN Tower is always a draw in Toronto, The Muskokas are good stuff for sure. Cottage country is where it is at. Grand Bend is good fun in the summer for some beach time, seadooing and general awsomeness, you got London with its trees and its Canadian grass and then there is Ottawa which is our capital and has the parliamentary aspect and cool buildings.
Factors that will affect what you can see:
1) Transportation, if you fly here you will be reliant on staying in bigger cities or with people you know.
2)Money, there are a lot of free things to see and do in Canada but how you want to see it.
3)Time of the year, Winter can bring some great outdoor adventure activities like snow boarding, skiing, all sorts of craziness, while summer you can be on beaches, go camping, go on great road trips.

Re: Canada Trip
I've never been to the Falls, so we'd definitely do that. How far away are you from the Falls N8R?
We'd probably go in the summer since we have more money in the summer than the winter.
This trip probably wouldn't be able to get up there until next year, so we'll have time to figure out the details. Just wanted some ideas to start out.

I'm a bit more centrally located than N8R is - I'm about 10 minutes away from the Falls, and approximately 45 minutes from Toronto. But N8R lives about 2 hours away from me - we could get some counters together then!
Also, Ottawa is about 4 hours from where I live - and it's beautiful. Nation's capital.

Re: Canada Trip
What sweabs said. Summer weather in Ontario can be a little on the brutal side with the humidity we have. If a gathering were to happen in St Caths next summer I would be down, so long as I am in Ontario.
Another group activity is Canada's Wonderland which isnt too far from Sweabs, some casinos, Niagara attractions...endless activities really. If anyone likes wine, all of that is near wine country.

Re: Canada Trip
That would be so awesome if a bunch of us counters could at least go up to the Falls and meet up!
Matt and his family did a Cedar Point/Niagra Falls trip a few years ago. It can be done!!

Dunno Dunno... hopefully before I am old and cranky, well older and crankier..
I have to now, it'd be rude not too, but not for a couple years I'd suspect... stupid UNI and stupid money......
MP's Road trip sounds awesome tho. very jeolous, I'll steal her schedule when she is done with it and add Hooters and a couple Indian Casinos and take out water world and arty farty flower shows she is going too..
get me some nice Canadian Tail too...

Re: Canada Trip
Speaking of Aboriginals...
My Grandfather is over in Alberta visiting some family. He was doing some reading in one of their libraries, and came across our family name a few times (when our family came here from Ireland, they settled over in the Alberta region). Anyway, turns out that my Great Great Great Grandfather conceived a child with one of the Aboriginal women at the time (still trying to figure out what tribe) - resulting in my Great Great Grandfather. So, I have a little bit of Native in me after all! Yay!

Re: Canada Trip
GO!!!!! Is a New Zealander NOT an aussie. It is like someone calling us American there sweabs.
Re: Canada Trip
haha, Thanks N8R... all good, been in Oz way to long now it's starting to annoy me and the line is getting blurred
so Sweabs is part native, well there ya go..... never woulda guessed it...
is there anything exciting happening in Canada in the next five years like a Winter Olympics, or Major Hells Angels Bikie war that would be of interest...
now that the Raptors became a lot less significant that certainly harms the Canadian Appeal... what side of the road do ya'll drive on compared to Aus ?
