Wearing Your Hat @ The Table
Why is it wrong to wear your hat at the dinner table?
Discuss.
(PS - I guess I'll put philosophical questions in the 'art' forum for now )

Re: Wearing Your Hat @ The Table
The question could be expanded to encompass hat-wearing on a far broader spectrum (e.g. wearing a hat in court; during the anthem, etc.).
A cool tidbit: "In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in the Low Countries social rank was indicated by acknowledging lower status in removing one's hat. This shows up in various ways in art...To be required to appear hatless before the entire populace, including peasants, was considered far more ignominious than it might seem..."

Re: Wearing Your Hat @ The Table
The removal of ones hat has always signified respect or an acknowledgment of "I'm not worthy". Thats why you remove your hat for a lady... because she's a LADY. And remove your hat for the National Anthem, pledge of allegiance, walking into a church or Hospital ER.
You kids now a days just love your ball caps so its hard to separate you two but i was just taught to think this way...
It also helps that my head is so large it cannot be contained within a hat of any size. Its simply impossible.

I find that only really young/immature people leave their hats on at the table.
